Japan’s Spectacular Tunnels of Light.
If you happen to be in Japan from now until March 31st, 2013, be sure to check out one of Japan’s most stunning displays of light called Winter Illuminations at Nabana no Sato, a botanical garden turned light theme park on the island of Nagashima in Kuwana. Opened just yesterday, it’s already been called one of the best winter light shows in all of Japan. The park really outdoes itself by using millions of sparkling LED’s all over the vast grounds including on the water and in the gardens. This years theme is ‘nature’ and it promises gorgeous scenes including a beautiful sunrise inspired by Mt. Fuji at dawn, a rainbow across the sky, and even an aurora. The stars of the show are the famous walk-through tunnels of light that completely envelop the viewer, making it seem as if they’re walking through bright, magical portals.

Just head on over to my facebook and comment and/or share the image and I’ll select a winner at random at the end of the week, then ship it out (worldwide) the next week. Since some of you are morally opposed to facebook, I will count reblogs here on tumblr as well <3

Synchronization Of Metronomes
When these out-of-sync metronomes are placed on a surface that lets their motion translate into momentum (in this case, cans), the arms will eventually get in sync with one another.
This is because their interacting forces will reach a path of least resistance, where they are not counteracting each other. Either that, or this dude’s a wizard.
I’ll stick with the physics. More explanation on reddit.

Song for Me; Ohno Satoshi solo, Summer Tour 2007 Final Time
@chikadzukitai you were right (as always), the choreo defied gravity.
At this rate, I should really start a ‘solos’ project, but then again, I’m a bum.
THIS SOLO !!!!!
Warning: word vomit
Okay, first of all, one of my good friends went to the Final Time concert (he was in Japan at the time, and could (barely) afford a scalped ticket which ended up putting him in the center of the arena area, a really good seat) and prepped me for the DVD by saying, “You know I’m a Nino fan, but the solo I liked the most might have been Ohno’s.” (He also said that during the other solos, the crowd is usually screaming encouragement and going nuts, but during Ohno’s, everyone SHUTS THE FUCK UP like they’re all taking a collective breath to pause and watch the magic.)
SO being insanely curious as to what could shake my Nino-fan friend’s leanings towards Nino, I looked around and found a fancam of Song For Me. And basically sat there watching the screen, thinking, “This can’t be live. Did the fancam person mess with the speed of the frames? HOW IS HE DOING THAT??” That’s the sort of feel I get from looking at this beautiful photoset; my initial reaction is still, “That looks unreal, it’s so fast,” but I have to remind myself, Ohno is actually capable of doing that live.
I am still just a little bitter that the videographers for this DVD did the beautiful, artistic shots that show off the lights and blur the focus and just overall contribute to the look of the performance but don’t allow us to see ALL of the awesome choreo of this song.
When I want a friend to be introduced to Ohno’s concert ~skillz~, I always choose to show Song For Me.
